Former Arsenal midfielder Charlie Patino‘s former coach George Dukes has praised the youngster for having a similar style of play to Liverpool’s Thiago Alcantara.
The 18-year-old had an impressive performance in the Carabao game. Cup that the home team collapsed Sunderland 5-1, despite playing in the last 10 minutes, scored one goal. The former coach said Patino had similar qualities to Thiago Alcantara.
“The first time I saw Charlie I knew he had some talent. But what was in Charlie’s head was one word, which was cool,” Dukes told ESPN FC.
“He looks very relaxed with the ball. When he touches the ball, touches the ball, everything looks very relaxed and cool.”
“That’s the word that applies to Charlie 100 percent. And people will see it when he plays more. You can see how relaxed he is playing with the ball. You won’t see him panicking or anything like that.”
“The player I would compare to him when I talk to others is Liverpool’s Thiago, when he has the ball it’s unique and I think Charlie has something like that in his game. in terms of composure and completeness”
Patino made his eagerly-anticipated debut on Tuesday, coming on as a late substitute in the Carabao Cup, and capped a five-star team performance with a goal in injury-time.
